Welcome to the website for The East Sussex Association of Blind and Partially Sighted People (ESAB).
ESAB currently offers support and advice to 1,700 people who are blind or partially sighted and living in East Sussex. Our aim is to help our clients to gain, or rebuild, their confidence and maintain their independence as they adjust to living without sight. We offer mobility training, skills courses, demonstrations and advice on specialist equipment and information on access to services and social activities.
Our website gives you some information about us and what we do but please contact us for more information.
According to one survey, sight is the sense people most fear losing. The reality is that 100 people a day start to lose their sight and by the age of 65 1 in 6 people will be blind or partially sighted. Losing your sight can leave you feeling shocked, scared, helpless, vulnerable or angry. Imagine for a moment how you would feel if you could no longer see your loved ones. The good news is that much sight loss is preventable, so make sure you get your eyes checked regularly. ESAB are here to offer support to people whose blindness or sight loss could not be prevented. |
